The town of Liska, known as one of the most sacred places in the world, is filled with special moments where the deep prayers at the gravesite of Rebbe Hershele Lisker zt"l resonate powerfully.

Through this prayer, we plead for healing for those who are unwell, financial support for the poor, and peace and wellness for Israel and all of humankind. Liska has historically been an important place in Jewish life, especially because it was where the Liska Rebbe established a remarkable synagogue, which was one of the largest in Europe then. The spirit of the town and its tzadik endures brightly in Jewish communities, with many visiting to ask for blessings in accordance with the Kivrei Tzadikim tradition.

Known as Rebbe Hershele Lisker (רבי הערשעלע ליסקער) or Zvi Hirsh Friedmann (צבי הירש פרידמאן), this distinguished author of Ach Pri Tevu'ah (אך פרי תבואה) ranks among the great Hasidic leaders, with teachings that continue to inspire his disciples. The Rebbe was a devoted disciple of the renowned Teitelbaum Moshe zt"l (משה טייטלבוים זצ״ל), better known as the Yismach Moshe (ישמח משה), from whom he acquired profound Torah knowledge and Hasidic wisdom. The deep connection of disciple and teacher lives on in Hasidic circles, especially within the Satmar community, which holds both Teitelbaum and Rebbe Hershele Lisker in high regard.

Hasidic communities worldwide, from Borough Park and Williamsburg to various regions in Israel, deeply respect the town of Liska and honor the legacy of the Liska Rebbe. Recognized as one of the key Kivrei Tzadikim locations, the Liska cemetery is a place where prayers are infused with unique strength through the tzadik's merit. On the anniversary of the Rebbe's passing, or yahrzeit (יארצייט), a multitude of people journeys here to pray and seek blessings for their families and the wider community.
